From November to February daylight is limited, and in the far north the sun does not properly rise for weeks. Most students find this harder than the cold. Getting outside during daylight, and a daylight lamp, both genuinely help.
Take vitamin D and go outside at lunchtime. Everyone here does both.

If you are staying a year or more you register for a personal identity number, and almost every service depends on it: a bank account, a phone contract, a gym membership, a doctor. Start the application immediately, because it takes time.
Sweden is nearly cashless. Get a card that works here before you fly.

Mid January for the autumn intake, through a single national website. There is a smaller spring round in August.
Do I need Swedish?
Not for an English taught programme. Almost everyone speaks English well. Some Swedish helps enormously with making friends and finding work.
Do I have to pay tuition?
Students from outside the EU and EEA pay tuition. Scholarships are common and worth applying for at the same time as your programme.
Is housing really that hard to find?
In Stockholm and Gothenburg, yes. Apply the day you are accepted, and prefer universities that guarantee housing for international students.
