Course Objectives

• Enhance proficiency in the four IELTS skill areas: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.
• Develop academic English skills for university-level coursework, including data commentary, critical discussions, source summarization, and precise argumentation.
• Provide targeted strategies for achieving a minimum IELTS Band 7 score, emphasizing academic strategies, time management, and computer-based test skills.

Course Requirements

• Prerequisite: English proficiency equivalent to IELTS Band 6 or higher.
• Placement Test: A mandatory IELTS-format placement test is required prior to enrollment.
• No additional prerequisites are required beyond the specified English proficiency level.

Language of Instruction

Primarily English, with supplementary explanations in the local language to support comprehension as needed

Learning Platforms

• Live Sessions: Zoom or Google Meet (stable internet, camera, and headset required for active participation)
• Coursework: Sakura Academy Portal (for assignments, feedback, progress reports, mock IELTS scores, and error analytics)

Skill Targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Listening and Reading:

Achieve approximately 30-32 correct answers out of 40 by course end.

Writing:

• Task 2: Demonstrate a clear position, full task coverage, coherent development, and accurate complex grammar.
• Task 1: Provide a clear overview, accurate comparisons, and precise data language.
• Error Density: Reduce to 3–4 key grammar errors or fewer per 100 words by course end.

Speaking:

• Sustain a 2-minute Part 2 response.
• Develop and justify ideas in Part 3 with intelligible pronunciation, controlled pausing, and appropriate stress.

Computer-Based Readiness:

• Master on-screen highlighting and note-taking strategies.
• Achieve a typing speed of 30–40 words per minute for Writing tasks.
• Practice strict timing in full-test simulations.

Textbook and Materials

• Textbook: Digital copy provided by Sakura Academy.
• Supplementary Materials: Accessible via the Sakura Academy Portal, including practice tests, vocabulary exercises, academic English resources, and IELTS-specific materials.
